Threats of violence, vandalism, bullying, terrorism warnings, etc... How can schools effectively address these issues without taking on the appearance and budget of a maximum-security facility? The focus of this course is on the creation of a school safety committee, the use of outside resources, and involving the community. This course presents a cooperative and comprehensive approach to school safety and security. Five areas of school security will be discussed - Management (Policies & Procedures), Building Security, Staff Training, Violence Prevention & Intervention, and Crisis Management. Participants will learn how to personally implement specific strategies and access helpful safety resources. Participants will also benefit from a tabletop emergency preparedness exercise.
